Life in Echo Park

North of Downtown L.A. is where you'll find Echo Park. A place where i was born and raised... A place where i can always find solitude with its distant echos. Not your typical neighborhood in Los Angeles. This is life here...

Mas Aqua ...more el raino !

Today, its been a good one for rain since the last one which really was the first one blablabla...

Just finished doing some work on my other blog. I enjoy trying different styles and being a little experimental.
I also enjoy writing and expressing. Something i'm still learning... even at the ripe age of fifty!
Always soaking stuff up...like a sponge!

I'm doing a fast at the moment. Just a light weight fast. No meat, starch, heavy or greasy foods! Quaker Oats, Cream of Wheat to clean out the system. Letting the ol' system take a break and rest a little. Such a foreign thought for most huh? Yup... some soups, veggies & fruit. Easy enough for anyone to do. Probably for the week, maybe i'll move to a real fast of no food at all! If i do it will only be for a few days...still no biggie! Try 7 days!! Its awesome!
Well, gotta go...
...IS ON !

Glorious Rain... Round 2

In between the thick dark clouds and the blue skies are these golden sun filled puffs of glory. Behind that scene is something heavy and its just about here.

So now i get ready for another spell. And she whispers... You know you need it! You know you really want it. Yup, I'm under her spell alright so...
Let Her Reign!

ahh..Go Take A Hike!

Went Up to Griffith Park today (Sunday)

I took my lil dog for a much waited for walk/hike. I walk the trails then break away into the hiking paths. Thats a workout! I been waiting for some rain to come our way just so i could go up. My favorite time is when it just rains or is raining lightly (or heavily,i don't care) and everything has that wonderful freshness about it. It really does refresh my soul!

So i take my warm clothes and umbrella, cause as much as i love the rain around me i rather it stay around me (better drier than not). I also take my little pocket radio so at times i can have some good mellow jazz or easy classical music for ambience, and i'm really into my ambience. It sets the right mood...whatever it maybe at that moment.

Went up to the very top, a favorite place i stop off at over looking all of the city, the Hollywood Sign, the distant reflection from the ocean and then lay back and look at the clouds pass me by, resting and soaking it all in... ahh, so relaxing! It seems that this weather brings out the energy in me even more than Summer.

Anyway, thats what i did today.

The R_A_I_N ...FINALLY !

Blue skies & clouds

I been waiting and waiting
Like the Love of my dreams waiting
Waiting waiting, anticapating
RAIN
Now comes gently
Then suddenly i'm flooded with joy
Flooded to my knees... if you please
Ahh, freshness, wettness
the air so sweet
RAIN
now falls...
and i close my eyes

Me...

Just me, nothing more...nothing less! Always looking so serious! (not really) But i am smiling, inside...

Been through this and that...who hasn't.

Me? Grown by leaps and bounds, by tripping on my own feet at times and learning it the harder way... always learning it seems more so the older i become.

Wiser? I like to think so, but only others who know me can answer that.

In touch with my soul and the elements around me.

Me? A Spiritual Man by Nature, with Nature and My Father.

A dying breed in many ways, many senses, a believer of being unique

not a follower of the masses or their mentality.

I am being who i was meant to be...

nothing more nothing less...

just me

Moving it Outdoors...

(The poor man's laptop)

I started this on my Birthday (10-1). Obviously had nothing better to do! But anyway, i thought it would be great to do all my writing and the such "outdoors" in the coolness of my lil cove area. What the hey, thats why i made it for afterall.

I mean its like for those hot summer days when a cool green private area of the yard really comes in handy. Even if its now close to winter...so what, i'll still be outside enjoying the cool night air too. I'm basically a outdoor guy anyway!

(the inside cove area and the outside yard view)

So i took my G3 out and set it up. Its been sitting in my room under my Pc for awhile and now that i have a new LCD panel, i can take the other monitor out too.
Last Summer i had a old computer out there but now it'll be the Mac. Oh,i'll cover it up real good and make sure its protected. i like my mac!
Sometimes i light a few candles around for ambience. Its pretty cool and cozy! My lil doggy falls asleep on my lap as i type out blurbs. Search the internet radio for a lil between the ears atmosphere and i'm so set!

Anyway...Happy Birthday Me!

Here Fishy Fishy...

12" Koi once a mere 2". A $6.00 fish now a $120+ fish!
And you ask why anyone would be crazy enough to raise these exotic Japanese Fish?
I had at one time about 14 mixed with some other Goldfish in the Pond that was intended for small size fish before i got this bright idea. It seemed that a few local creatures, namely Racoons also had a idea for early morning breakfast! Wouldn't you know, they went for my Kio more than those cheap azz Goldfish! I gotta hand it to them on good taste (pun intended). What i had left was about half that in Koi. Now they are all residing in my jacuzzi safely while i tear up their home to made it 4-5 feet deeper and safer! From the lil smiles on their faces, they really aren't complaining at all ! No, but i am !and NO,i don't have it on for them! Once everything is all completed they will love thier new "digs", waterfall and all !

Whos crazy now huh?

My First Restored Auto

Rare 1962 ford e100

I picked this up in 1976 when it belonged to some hippy chick from Oregon who had a homemade wooden camper shell on it with trucker lights and one long loud air horn mounted all on the top front. It was yellow and i used to call it my lil tijuana special. As you can tell, i made alot of changes. I now have both re-chromed bumpers back on and now its my lil California Surfer Truck. I really did want a regular old truck but this one grew on me in time. Its a keeper!
